This is an easy task in the post civil rights era because the Tea Party GOP is the United States’ de facto White identity party. It is far more difficult for white liberals and progressives to look in the proverbial mirror and to take a personal inventory of their own possessive investment in whiteness, and how they reproduce white supremacy as a lived ideology."
