If you ask me what I came into this world to do, I will tell you; I came to live out loud.

via Facebook... So my son is telling me what he'd do if he won the powerball 4 million: Half to taxes. One big splurge item, likely a guitar. Pay off mine and Steve's house, all our debts. Set up a trust fund for his uncle Brian so he's taken care of for life. Set up a trust fund for our friend Sara so she's taken care of for life. Donate to some other causes. Open a record label and travel the world finding talent and making sure they aren't appropriated from or taken advantage of (hello Graceland). The rest into savings and investments. For a 19 year old he really has it together. It's moments like these when you realize your kid is just amazing.

"Or Number Two: If you do go out don't get rat-a***d. If you get rat a***d, I'm sorry, you are asking for trouble." He later added: "I tell you what would drop the rape statistics would be if girls covered up, dressed appropriately and stopped drinking themselves legless.""

via Facebook... I cannot tell you how many ways this resonated with me. The quote: “Giftedness is a tragic gift, and not a precursor to success,” says Janneke Frank, principal of Westmount Charter School and a local guru of gifted education. “The gifted don’t just think differently, they feel differently. And emotions can ricochet out of control sometimes.” To speak of giftedness as a disability seems counterintuitive. Part of the problem is simply semantic; the word “gifted” suggests an advantage and does not conjure up the intense challenges these children can face.

via Facebook... This oh so much! "White liberals love to point out the racism of conservatives and republicans. This is an easy task in the post civil rights era because the Tea Party GOP is the United States’ de facto White identity party. It is far more difficult for white liberals and progressives to look in the proverbial mirror and to take a personal inventory of their own possessive investment in whiteness, and how they reproduce white supremacy as a lived ideology."
