via Facebook... I can't even read or play video games because my eyes hurt and my glasses bother my nose. Full on pathetic. Although the dogs find my leaky nose fascinating.
Darlene Pineda
via Facebook... My right eye is melting and slowly seeping from my head. The same side of my nose has stopped working at all. Either I caught a glimpse of the Ark of the Covenant and so only getting a partial melt, or my face is actively trying to kill me.

via Facebook... Yup, I'm awake. Steve has been sleeping since about 6pm, guess he hasn't adjusted his internal clock yet. I played Skyrim for hours. Nothing got done today. Less than nothing. Tomorrow morning is the traditional "panicked getting ready for company" process along with the "holy shit we need to wrap ALL THE THINGS!...Fuck it, just stick a bow on the Amazon box" ritual. There may also be some "shove it in the closet!" moments. Also, I have no wrapping paper. Brown paper bags, decorated with Sharpies. I think of these creative solutions to problems. Steve snores. The dogs steal my covers. Merry Christmas!

via Facebook... This. It matters. " Glen Ford says: let's talk about the real threat, an imminent one for the next demonstration. If police can constitute themselves on their own orders--and remember, there's 35,000 of them. They are an army behaving as an army of occupation. If they can constitute their own formations, then what's to stop them from self-assigning 5,000 more cops than are assigned by the commissioner of police to the next demonstration and policing it any way that they see fit? We really are on the verge of a real crisis here. And, of course, we know who the victims would be. They are threatening to take the law into their own hands, to behave as if they are the law. They are showing that the protesters are correct in describing the nature of policing in America as arbitrary, capricious, and racist, and rogue."

via Facebook... ---The British lawmakers reported the findings of their mission last month in "A Smokescreen for Slavery: Human Rights Abuses in UK Supply Chains," which detailed problems on North Carolina tobacco farms, including human trafficking, squalid living conditions, a lack of drinking water in the fields, pesticide poisoning, and fear of retaliation for speaking up about poor conditions. The report was released by the Trade Union Group of MPs, for which Lavery serves as chair and Sheridan as vice chair. The visit, they said, left them wondering "how human beings could endure under these conditions without crushing the human spirit."

via Facebook... Look, I don't think murder is okay. But do not expect me to mourn over dead cops who won't be bothered to mourn over dead civilians. The same police who insist they did nothing wrong and would do it again as they murder unarmed civilians expect me to feel more for their dead then mine? And now they are using those dead cops as an excuse for more violence? To turn their backs on their mayor? To blame protesters who just want accountability? And the NYPD declared war. Even though they got their killer. But they will take it out on anyone who dares to question them.... So where are the good cops? Denouncing the rhetoric of hate and blame? I'm waiting to hear from you....

via Facebook... I am not a Tim Wise fan, but this bit is pretty well said... "The killing of the two officers in NYC is a terrible, horrible crime. AND, here's the thing: If you treat communities like you are an occupying army don't be surprised when folks assume you have declared war on them. And then don't be shocked when some decide to declare war back. Doesn't make it right, but it's damned sure predictable. So long as the NYPD continues to excuse every act of violence done by their members, and so long as they act as though they are above criticism, the war will likely continue, which is tragic for everyone on all sides of it. But unlike the cops, who can't and won't express real remorse for anyone they kill, we who protest them do express remorse for those officers who are killed. That's the difference between us, and it matters. And so long as black people are expected to express remorse for murdered officers who they did not personally kill, while officers are free to say they have no remorse for the black people they kill -- and they would "do it again" -- where supremacy remains in full effect." via Facebook... " 1960s Ionia State Hospital—located in Ionia, Michigan and now converted to a prison. The facility is claimed to have been one of America's largest and most notorious state psychiatric hospitals in the era before deinstitutionalization. The book focuses on exposing the trend of this hospital to diagnose African Americans with schizophrenia because of their civil rights ideas. The book suggests that in part the sudden influx of such diagnoses could be traced to a change in wording in the DSM-II, which compared to the previous edition added "hostility" and "aggression" as signs of the disorder. Metzl writes that this change resulted in structural racism."

via Facebook... Not sleeping. Misha is restless so I'm awake every time she moves. Plus I missed my timing on pain meds so, you know. Pain. Plus I'm frustrated I can't be in New York but I have people depending on me here and I can't just go so I post and tweet and feel like I'm benched. Plus did I mention pain? Also I'm exhausted. And my hands and feet are cold but the rest of me is sort of boiling. And the meds make me itchy. Being an adult is overrated.

I'm pretty sure I broke a rib and a kidney while tossing my cookies. And the best part? The row of cats. Staring at me. Judging. Cat don't care. Cat wants food in its bowl. Kill. Me. Now.
